Sunna’s Nektar Braggot

Braggot is a form of mead made with both honey and barley malt.

It typically uses 1/3 or more malt and may have as much as 50% malt.

Wow, what’s that you ask? Sunna is the Norse Goddess of the Sun. Uwe & our brewers thought that was a good name for a special honey brew, called a braggot, or beer & honey combination.

We started out brewing a rare German Adam beer to about 10% then we fed it lots of honey to bring it up to its final 17%. Then we laid it down for over a year to mature & meld all the rich wonderful honey, raisin, caramel, vanilla, maple & marshmallow aromas.

Sunna is a deep amber color with golden highlights, with the huge flavor of honey & marshmallow.

That washes away quickly, finishing with smooth alcohol warmth. She lays dry on the palette, leaving almost no lingering sweetness but a deep rich almost bourbon mouth sensation.

Sunna is already a winner, taking a Bronze medal at the 2016 Mazer International Mead Cup as a youngster, only months old.

She has matured to become something to behold & on top of all that, 200 gallons of Sunna is sitting in 4 bourbon barrels to be bottled soon. Keep an eye out, you won’t want to miss her.
